35-Year-Old Alleged Serial Cable Thief Arrested in Windhoek Mall Ceiling

35-year-old

Windhoek City Police have arrested a 35-year-old man suspected of being behind a string of copper cable theft incidents across the capital.

The suspect, identified as Moses Moses, was apprehended on Sunday after he was allegedly found inside the ceiling of a shopping mall in Windhoek attempting to steal copper cables.

According to City Police spokesperson Superintendent Marcelline Murapo, Moses is believed to be a repeat offender who has been linked to multiple cases of copper cable theft in different parts of the city. She said the suspect has previously been caught in the act on several occasions.

Murapo further alleged that the suspect is also connected to incidents involving the stripping of electrical substations, a crime that has contributed to power disruptions and costly infrastructure damage.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to face charges related to theft and damage to critical infrastructure.
