Mother and Daughter Drown in Earth Dam

– A devastating incident unfolded in Onangubu village when a 31-year-old mother and her 13-year-old daughter drowned in a local earth dam.

The two, originally from Efululula village, had gone to the dam to do their laundry when tragedy struck. According to preliminary police reports, the daughter stepped into the dam to fetch water but soon found herself struggling. Seeing her child in distress, the mother rushed to rescue her, but both ended up drowning.

Divers from the Special Reserve Force in the Ohangwena and Oshana regions were deployed to recover their bodies from the dam. Authorities have since notified the next of kin, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.

This heartbreaking accident has left the community in mourning, highlighting the dangers of deep water bodies like earth dams, especially during daily activities such as collecting water or washing clothes.
