NORED Electricity Pty Ltd has alerted customers and stakeholders to potential service disruptions following the commencement of an industrial strike by employees represented by the Mineworkers of Namibia (MUN).
In a public notice issued on Thursday, 26 February 2026, the power utility confirmed that the strike began at 07h30 across all its offices. The union represents workers within the company’s bargaining unit.
The company indicated that reduced staff availability could affect its ability to respond promptly to power failures, maintenance and operational matters, vending services, and call centre queries. Customers may also experience delays in the processing of payments and other service-related requests.
As an essential service provider in Namibia, NORED stated that it has activated contingency plans aimed at minimizing disruptions and ensuring continuity of electricity supply. However, the utility cautioned customers to prepare for possible delays in maintenance work and extended repair times in the event of outages.
For urgent safety-related matters, customers have been advised to contact the company via its SMS line or official Facebook page.
NORED further emphasized its commitment to the ongoing bargaining process, expressing hope for a fair and sustainable resolution that will restore normal operations. The company apologized for any inconvenience caused and assured the public that updates would be communicated as the situation develops.
