The Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court has refused bail to Fillemon Nakanduungile, a medical doctor accused in connection with the brutal killing of prosecutor Justine Shiweda, who died on 7 February.
Magistrate Mutwa Lutaka ruled that Nakanduungile posed a flight risk and demonstrated a “propensity to commit offences.” The prosecution alleges that the doctor’s home was used to plan the attack on Shiweda, during which she was shot and doused with acid on 17 October 2025.
The court highlighted the strength of the case against Nakanduungile, noting his frequent unauthorized trips to Angola, and emphasized the matter’s significant public interest as reasons for denying bail.
Nakanduungile faces six charges related to the attack on Shiweda, as well as allegations of violating immigration laws. His case, along with that of his co-accused, has been remanded to 16 March for the next court appearance.
